Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day is Over – Now What?

Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day is over and their business will continue to do well, but what do we do now. The efforts yesterday, I believe, were well deserved and the thousands that stood in line made their point. But what now? If the people that went to Chick-Fil-A yesterday would all donate $5-$7 dollars to a local  organization it would really make a difference. What if all those people showed up to buy and give out school supplies to the less fortunate? What if they adopted a school in a low income area and helped kids who show up with old clothes, no underware, and no shoes? What if they all came together to send shoes to a country where the lack of shoes opens children up to disease? What if they all fought to provide clean water so children would not die from preventable disease? If you are looking for a good place to make an impact, send me a message. Keep reading because you need to.

I hope those who went to Chick-Fil-A did it to support them and their same beliefs as Dan Cathy and not out of hate for the homosexual. If it was hate in your heart that prompted you to go, you were wrong. I have homosexual people that I know and are acquaintances. I disagree with their belief on this issue but I do not hate them. A young man, well he is not so young anymore, posted something on Facebook yesterday and he and I went back and forth a little but here is what he said and I think it is well said.

“I totally get what you are saying Dan. I never said that people in that line today are all bad. I try to make it a point to do more charity work than I do anything else because I have that option and freedom to be able to do that. Over the past year, there have been so many friends and great people who have helped me with these charities and people in need….some continuously and over and over. Other times, I have had to beg for people’s help and support when someone needed it most. I love when people stand up for what they believe in and I think that is a beautiful thing, whether I agree with it or not. My point is if you are going to believe in the Bible and ALL it says, then you should do just that and believe every bit of it. The message of LOVE is the most overwhelming message for me in the Bible and the love and tolerance of others–way above the opposition of a single form of sin– because we are all equal in the eyes of God and sin is sin. If we are going to stand in line to oppose homosexuality and uphold what the Bible says about marriage, then we need to have adultery day, liar day, murder day, judgmental day and so on. I just don’t want people to forget that in the eyes of our God they are no different than the very ones they are opposing. If we took away all of the people who had committed sin equal to that of homosexuality according to Chick-fil-a’s beliefs, there would be no one in that line and they would be out of business! I am that very same little boy that you remember from church and I STILL believe that God loves us all no matter what—unconditionally. And that’s how I want to be and how I choose to live my life! And don’t worry, I will never block you as a friend…I respect you too much for that and love you no matter what! :)” Scot Wedgeworth

He and I don’t agree on everything but we do agree that this should be a lifestyle and not just a day to remember.
